A fiery crash closed part of U.S. 75 Wednesday morning in Richardson.
According to police, the crash was reported shortly before 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of 75 between Renner Road and President George Bush Turnpike.
A tanker truck hauling fuel was heading south on 75 when it veered to the left, into the median wall and into the northbound lanes, police said. The truck overturned and ignited.
A picture taken at the scene showed firefighters spraying water onto the charred wreckage of the vehicle. Video from Texas Sky Ranger appeared to show fuel spilled across the width of the northbound section of the highway.
Police were not able to immediately describe the condition of the driver.
By 11 a.m., traffic was backed up to West Belt Line Road/Main Street. The northbound lanes of the freeway were expected to be closed for some time as crews cleaned up the spilled fuel, police said.
