A small sedan hit a tractor-trailer and ruptured its fuel tank early Monday morning, closing eastbound U.S. 90 at Stephens Road, and authorities are looking for the vehicle involved.
The sedan was traveling from Stephens Road in Santa Rosa County onto U.S. 90 at approximately 4:30 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The vehicle failed to yield the right of way to eastbound traffic while entering U.S. 90, subsequently colliding into the right-side saddle fuel tank of a tractor-trailer.
The sedan fled the scene and witnesses were only able to describe it as a small gold sedan with right or left front headlight damage. The impact from the crash caused the tractor-trailer’s fuel tank to rupture, emptying over 100 gallons of diesel fuel onto U.S. 90’s eastbound lanes in the area of Stephens Road.
There were no reported injuries.
