Well, it’s here. The Dallas Fuel didn’t wait long into the Overwatch League offseason to make noise.
The team released nine players from the past season, not extending the contracts of its starters — Stefan “Onigod” Fiskerstrand, William “Crimzo” Hernandez, Noh “Gamsu” Young-jin, Lucas “NotE” Meissner and Nolan "Paintbrush Edwards are out.
Today, we are parting ways with @Onigod, @Crimzo, @Gamsu, @NotEvenBleu, @Trill_ow, @DF_aKm, @uNKOE, @Closer and @paintbrush.
We want to thank them for all of their hard work, passion, dedication and time on the Fuel. We wish them the absolute best in their future endeavors. pic.twitter.com/efF9UWv5dQ

The bench was wiped clean too. Jung “Closer” Wonsik was the only reserve player to compete for the Fuel this season, but the team also parted ways with Benjamin “uNKOE” Chevasson, Ash “Trill” Powell and Dylan “aKm” Bignet.
Players like Hernandez and Edwards will quickly search for another team, while Noh announced his retirement from OWL.
I’m very grateful for the past three years of playing Overwatch, but I have made the decision to retire and pursue League of Legends again. Please continue to cheer for me as I go into this next part of the journey.

What does that leave?
Kim “DoHa” Dongha is the last remaining Fuel player, pointing to the team building around its damage star. Kim was a cog for the Fuel, especially on heroes like Genji and Sombra.
No announcement on the head coaching position has been made, so interim head coach Kim “Yong” Yong-jin is still in command.
All of this was foreshadowed by Envy Gaming owner and Chief Gaming Officer Mike Rufail in August, when he suggested “sweeping” changes were coming.
Lots of fuel added to the fire today (pun intended). We will make some major changes and get the @DallasFuel back into the fray. Thankful for all of you have the patience. Working hard. Expect a lot of news for the team and sweeping changes.

The team let go of its head coach, an assistant coach and damage superstar Jang "Decay' Gui-un a month before the playoffs after inner turmoil upended the Fuel’s season.
Now the Fuel have five starting spots, a bench and several coaching positions to fill. The next big date on the calendar is Oct. 24, when teams can begin signing free agents.
Rufail promised sweeping changes would come and they did. Now the Fuel have to look toward another rebuild. Dallas will have options, as it was only one of nine teams to make a move on Friday, leaving plenty of free agents for Rufail and the Fuel to zone in on.
Some headliners during the free agency period include San Francisco’s Grant “Moth” Espe and ex-Fuel tank player Son “OGE” Min-seok.
With a rebuild will come more expectations for the Fuel to improve in 2021, as the team has yet to field a contender in its three seasons in OWL.
