USDA Rural Development grants will help expand facilities for the sale of homegrown renewable fuels in Delaware and Jones counties.

Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer announced the grants on Friday.

The grants will help three local fuel stations upgrade equipment for the storage and sale of E15 ethanol, leading to an expected increase of more than 1 million gallons of ethanol sold per year.

Three Rivers FS in Delaware County will receive a $45,000 grant as part of a $90,000 project to replace three fuel dispensers at two stations. And Sundstop II, LLC, in Jones County will receive a $158,000 grant as part of a nearly $317,000 project to replace four fuel dispensers and one storage tank.

Expresso of Lansing in Allamakee County is also a grant recipient.

In April, Finkenauer introduced the bipartisan Clean Fuels Deployment Act of 2020 with Reps. Angie Craig (D-MN), Don Bacon (R-NE) and Roger Marshall (R-KS). The legislation authorizes $600 million over six years to help retailers offer higher ethanol blends, expand the geographic area selling ethanol blends, support biodiesel, bioheat, and sustainable aviation fuel markets, and accelerate the deployment of fueling infrastructure.
