While we’re due for a bit of milder weather, the past several days have given us a pretty strong reminder that winter is coming. If turning on the heat recently made you nervous about being able to keep up with bills, there’s a program to help.
Southborough Youth and Family Services is reaching out again to families in need. This time, they are promoting a regional program to help keep the heat pumping this winter.
Unlike the rent/mortgage assistance program I shared yesterday, your financial issues do not need to be related to Covid-19 to qualify.
The South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) offers a fuel assistance program for low-income households in 37 communities. Southborough is one of them, and SYFS is our “intake site”.
Eligible households can have a portion of their heating costs paid for. Plus, they may also qualify for electricity discounts and weatherization programs.
SYFS’ flyer details income caps as:
Household Size | Maximum Gross Income | |
1 | $39,105 | |
2 | $51,137 | |
3 | $63,169 | |
4 | $75,201 | |
5 | $87,233 | |
6 | $99,265 | |
7 | $101,521 |
For more details, or to apply, please call Shannon Kinayman at 508-481-5676, ext 3. You can also find more information on the SMOC Fuel Assistance program here. Applications are due by April 30, 2021.
