Authorities work to clean up a fuel spill on Route 2 in Westminster.

A tractor trailer leaking fuel has shut down one lane of Route 2 eastbound in Westminster and is causing heavy delays, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Just after 7:30 a.m., police tweeted photos showing a large puddle of fuel extending down a portion fo the right breakdown lane of Route 2 eastbound. The right lane of the highway is closed, police said.

The fuel leak occurred between the on and off ramps of Exit 25. According to Google Maps, the incident is backing traffic up about 2.5 miles as crews deal with the fuel spill.
