An empty fuel truck went off the road on River Drive Friday morning in Great Falls, rolling down the embankment and coming to rest below close to the River's Edge Trail.
The accident was reported around 8:45 a.m. The Town Pump tanker went off the road above the area of the Black Eagle Dam on the trail.
The area of River Drive and 25th Street North was blocked off to traffic for several hours and Great Falls Fire Rescue asked that motorists avoid the area. The tanks were empty and there was no fuel spill. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash, according to the Great Falls Police Department.
Both River Drive and the River's Edge Trail are both back open, according to GFPD.
The driver was transported to the hospital with injuries after extrication was completed, according to Great Falls Fire Rescue.
