CHICO — The Chico Bidwell Park and Playground Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Monday. It will be the first time the commission has met since Feb. 24.

First on the agenda is an update and consideration of a Draft Vegetable Fuels Management Plan for Bidwell Park, city greenways and open spaces. Development of the plan is funded by a Cal Fire Community Wildfire Prevention Grant.

Second on the agenda is a potential policy regarding park reservation applications and permits for compliance with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s COVID-19 California Pandemic Resilience Roadmap.

Third on the agenda is an item discussed back during the February meeting: potential options to reduce environmental degradation, trash, and damage to Bidwell Park and other city parks and greenways due to encampments.

Fourth on the agenda is a proposal by staff to knock down a portion of the changing area walls on the south side of Sycamore Pool in the One-Mile Recreation Area and to enclose the unused shower areas for use as storage rooms.

After all agenda items have been discussed, the public may address the commission on any matter not already listed on the agenda.

After that period, reports and communications will be addressed: “The Parks Division Report” by Linda Herman, park and natural resources manager, and “The Street Tree Division Report” by Richie Bamlet, urban forest manager

These reports are provided for the commission’s information. Although the commission may discuss the items, no action can be taken during the meeting. Should the commission determine that action is required, the item or items may be included for action on a subsequent posted agenda.

Materials related to agenda items are available for public inspection in the Park Division Office at 965 Fir St. during normal business hours or online at chico.ca.us.

The public may view the meeting on Comcast Channel 11. Public comment will also be accepted by email with the subject line “public comment item” and then the item wished to be discussed.

All emails must be sent to parkpubliccomment@chicoca.gov before and during the meeting. People are encouraged not to send more than one email per item and not to comment on numerous items in one email.
